Welcome to the website of sculptor and dance artist Brenda Naylor
5th July 1926 - March 11 2016
Originally trained in drawing at St Martins School of Art, Brenda Naylor's career has spanned fashion, advertising, teaching, writing, book illustration and television. A self-taught sculptor, since 1989 she has been exhibiting bronzes and drawings, mainly of dancers, and her work is to be found in private collections all over the UK, in Spain, Germany, Italy, Japan and the USA. Instantly recognisable likenesses, meticulous costume detail and exactness of the dance positions portrayed are characteristic of her work. The sculptures are cast in bronze using the traditional lost-wax process and, unusually, she does practically all the finishing and chasing herself at the foundry.
We wish to thank everyone who visited the Brenda Naylor Exhibition and all those who generously purchased bronzes and drawings. A total of £49,921 was raised which has been split with £12,480 going to the RNLI and £37,441 to the Dancers' Career Development. A few items are still available for sale which may be viewed on this website.
